M.E.W.S. takes the win, $500 prize at September’s Showtime in Sanford

The winner of the Showtime in Sanford September event recently changed his stage name to M.E.W.S., which stands for My Experience Writes Songs, and it was his experience that took home the $500 cash prize Thursday night at the Sanford Women’s Club. Michael Francis, 33, of Orlando is now known as M.E.W.S. He said after the win that he knew he had to try something different to defeat another singer who had turned in a performance that guest host Nuk Grissle said sounded like Prince.
