Basil Anthony Jones

Basil Anthony Jones, 79 of DeBary, Florida, passed on February 3, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Ina Rubina Brooks and Sutcliffe Osbourne Jones in the district of Auchtembeddie, Manchester Jamaica. After attending Excelsior high school in Kingston, Jamaica, Basil obtained his BS in Accounting from University of West Indies. His love of education continued and he earned his MBA degree from American University in Washington D.C.

Basil owned and operated American Security Mortgage company along with Jones & Associates for over 25 years. An avid lover of sports, he enjoyed cricket, football, and boxing. He also loved to play dominos which showed his competitiveness, strategic mind and personality. 

Basil is preceded in death by his parents Ina Brooks and Sutcliffe Jones. He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnye Morgan Jones, children: Steve Jones (Mamie), Renee Jones, Shannon McDole (Joseph) and Serita Cotton (Kevin), grandchildren: Jaden Lockhart, Harlem Jones, Bennett Jones, and Jamir Jones, aunt: Alva T. Roberts, uncles: Roy Brooks (Aldith), Raphael “Tony” Brooks (Marcia), sisters: Carmen Brown, Scanja Jones, Madge Campbell, Sherrie Brimage, and Linda Jones, along with many other extended relatives and friends. 

Visitation Saturday, February 17, 2024 10:00 - 11:00am   Service 11am at the Door of light Church of God 425 Geneva Dr. Oviedo, FL. Gail & Wynn's Mortuary is in charge of all arrangements.
