William G. Davis, 62, of Sanford, passed away May 6, 2010.
He was born in Sanford worked as a clerk. He was also a member of the Saint Matthew Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board, Trustee Board and as a member of the BrotherHood Choir.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Brown Davis of Sanford; mother, Inez Miller of Atlanta; son, Eric B. Davis of Titusville; brothers, Arthur Brown of Atlanta and Gary Brown of Syracuse, N.Y.; sisters, Alva Bagley of Orlando and Vinda Brown of Syracuse, N.Y.; grandchildren, Christopher and Sariah Davis, both of Roxboro, N.C. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanette F. Davis.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church in Sanford. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Leonard L.J. Wilson, pastor, officiating.

Anthony Henry Jelks, 57, of Sanford, passed away May 9, 2010 at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.
He was born July 18, 1952 in Newark, N.J. He was a veteran of the United States Army and he enjoyed dancing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anna L. Nelson-Jelks; daughters, Natasha Besemer; Malinda Jelks, and Lotus Besemer (Rapheal Odey); father, Henry Jelks, Jr.; sisters, Pamela Y. Jelks and Tina M. Jelks-Poyser; brothers, Alvin J. Jelks, Kelvin E. Jelks, and James Jones; and 6 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Sanford. Visitation on Friday from 4 8 p.m. at Sunrise Funeral Home Chapel in Sanford.

William Love, 70, of Sanford, passed away May 9, 2010 in Sanford.
He was born March 4, 1940 in Newton, Miss. He worked as a laborer in the farming industry for many years.
He is survived by a loving friend and companion, Ruthie Mae Whitaker; stepsons, Shelly Davis and Bobby Whitaker.

Barbara G Thomas, 76, of DeLand, former resident of New Smyrna Beach, passed away May 9, 2010.
She was born in Sanford and lived most of her life in the area. She and her late husband, Buck, owned and operated several business’ during their life together. Barbara was an avid golfer in her younger days. She enjoyed attending church, interior decorating, crafts, fishing and her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Stewart of DeLand; sister, Janette Young of Powder Springs, Ga.; brothers, Rodney Gardner of Woodstock, Ga., George Gardner of DeBary, and Clifford Gardner of Avon, Ind.; grandchildren, Jeremy Freer, Kevin, Jordan and Linnelle Stewart; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial will be 6 p.m. Thursday at Stetson Baptist Church in DeLand. The family will receive friends at Baldwin Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel in Sanford on Friday at 1 p.m.

Geneva D. Via, 83, passed away May 9, 2010, in Columbus, Ohio.
She was a former resident of Sanford and a member of the Family Worship Center in Sanford. "Genny" joined her husband, Lt.Col Retired, Ernest A. Via.
She is survived by daughters, Sue (Chuck) Lusk-Gleich of Columbus, Christina Via of Beverly Hills, Cali.; sons, David (Annette) Via of Middletown Md. and Randy Via of Columbus; known as "Tutu" to her grandchildren, John Lusk, Nicholas Via, Randy Vaughn, Alex Via; great-grandchild Gavin Via; special friend Wendy Via; many nieces & nephews.

Herman M. Weisman, 91, passed away in Sanford May 8, 2010.
Born April 12, 1919, in Hollywood Cali., he moved to Sanford six years ago from Lauderhill. He worked as a salesman for the textile industry, and was a member of the Piece Goods Salesman Association. He loved to play tennis and was a member of a tennis club in Lauderhill. He also enjoyed traveling, loved dancing and was a ballroom dancer.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Proctor, of Lake Mary and a sister, Cee Cee Garfinkle of Los Angeles, Cali.

STELLA WHITNEY
Stella H. Whitney, 95, of Osteen/ Deltona, passed away May 5, 2010 at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.
Born in Portsville, Del., she was the daughter of Thomas and Lavencia Hitchens. She was a former longtime resident of Sanford, moving back to Central Florida in 1987. She and her husband, Irving I. Pryor, had a State Farm Agency in Sanford from 1953 until his death in 1975. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Sanford, a past Worthy Matron of the Seminole Chapter 2 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a past president of the Jacaranda Circle of the Sanford Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Irving Pryor, Herbert Willey and Richard B. Whitney.
She is survived by her step-daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Bruce Bright; granddaughter, Jessie (Scott) Griger; and great-grandson Trent; all of Md.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Sanford. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations to the First Baptist Church of Sanford.
