George T. Duncan Sr., 82, of Sanford, Florida passed away January 9, 2010 at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.
He was born March 30, 1927 in Lake City, Fla. He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sanford where he served as a deacon, he also served in the United States Army and he was War World II Veteran. He was a supervisor for Seminole County School Board, Mechanic Department for over 35 years and he served in countless Civic Organizations.
He is survived by his children, Willie L. Robinson (Lillian), Sanford, Toni E. Lockhart (William), Rochester, N.Y., George T. Duncan Jr. (Claire-Nite), LeHigh Acres, FL, Cynthia Keitt, Sanford, and Euvanah Duncan, Sanford; brothers, Sam Smith Jr., Tampa, Oren Hicks, Rochester, N.Y., and Lawrence Hicks, Orlando; sisters, Betty Reddings, Sanford and Mary Ann Reynolds; devoted caregiver, Emma Sue Herold; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Homegoing Celebration will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Life Word Center Church in Sanford. Visitation on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Sunrise Funeral Home Chapel in Sanford.

Naomi R. Freeman, 82, of Sanford, passed away January 11, 2010 at Healthcare/ Rehab Center of Sanford.
She was born in Monticello, Fla. and was employed by the Seminole County School Board as a maintenance engineer. She was a Baptist and member of Rosehill Missionary Baptist Church Lake Monroe.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane Keitt of Sanford, Gwendell Holloway of Lake Monroe, Leroy Mathis of Lake Monroe; sister Leola Mathis of Lake Monroe; devoted friend James R. Sharpe of Lake Monroe; two grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lois Gehman, 88, of Sanford, passed away January 7, 2010 in Sanford.
She was born December 18, 1921 in West Branch, Mich. and worked as a bank teller. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lake Mary from 1965.
She is survived by her son, Douglas Gehman of New Smyrna Beach; daughter, Janis Ferrell (Steve) of Lake Mary; brother, Gene Zettle of West Branch, Mich.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Mary. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Presbyterian Church.

Josephine Michels Von Herbulis, 81, of Sanford, passed away January 9, 2010 in Lake Mary.
She and her twin sister were born March 7, 1928 in Palm Bay to Anton and Lucille Michels. She has been a Sanford resident and a member of All Souls
Catholic Church since 1942, and she was also a graduate of Seminole High School Class of 1947. She was a loving mother and wife, totally dedicated to her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Von Herbulis and son
Michael Von Herbulis, and two brothers, Theodore and John Michels and sister Antoinette Haig. She is survived by daughters Marilyn (Phil) Dorman of Sorrento, Dianne Holloway and Sara Hummel of Sanford; sons Kenneth (Kathy) of Savannah, Ga., Roger (Michelle) of Deltona, Larry (Traci) of Mt. Dora, and Lewis of Deltona; sisters, Elizabeth Michels of Sanford, her twin Jacqueline (Harry) Deignan of Griffin, Ga., MaryAnn Senart of Sanford, Edna Snavely of Umatilla, Helen Michels-Betancourt of Sanford, Carolyn (Sammy) Cacciatore of Indian Harbor Beach, sister-in-law Ramona Michels of Ft. Collins, CO; brothers Ralph
(Myra), Neil (Sheila), Paul and Henry(Jeannie) Michels all of Sanford; 23 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and many extended family members whom she cared for deeply.

Laimon Jackson, 84, of Winter Springs, passed away January 5, 2010 at Florida Hospital Altamonte.
He was born in Clayton, Ala. and worked in the landscaping business.
He is survived by his sons, Laimon Jackson, Jr. of Clayton, Ala., Wayne Jackson of Lake Whales, Keith Brown of Longwood, and Donald and John Jackson, both of Oviedo; daughter, Barbara Jean Jackson of Orlando; brothers, William Jackson of Clayton, Ala., Charles Jackson of Rockfield, Ill., Eddie Jackson of Chicago, and Willie Jackson of Mobile, Ala.; sisters, Cora Lee Parmer of Akron, Ohio, Holly Hawkins of Panama City, Annette Warren of Denver, Rosa Lee Johnson of Rockford, Ill., Mary King of Rockford, Ill. and Dorothy Williams of Trenton, N.J.; step-children, Kimberly Henry, Marsha Lovett and Larry Jackson, all of Orlando; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Vernon Leroy Jones, 67, of Sanford, passed away January 7, 2010 at Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center of Sanford.
He was born on December 18, 1942 in Sanford. He was a lifelong resident of Sanford.
He is survived by his daughter, Vernell Jones, Rochester, N.Y.; brothers, Andrew Jones (Mary) of Sanford, and John H. Jones (Trisa) of N.C.; sisters, Orsceola Owens (Baker) of Kissimmee, Mable Jones, Cynthia Jones, Thomasina D. Counts (Greg) Atlanta, GA., and Patricia Jones, Lake Mary; aunt, Lucille Walker, Deltona; uncle, Ferman Barrett, Geneva, N.Y.

Diane G. Phillips, 47, of Sanford, passed away January 8, 2010 at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.
She was born in Sanford and worked as a cook for the Rescue Outreach Mission. She was a member of International Worship Deliverance Ministry.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Phillips of Sanford; son, Fredrick Grubbs of Sanford; brothers, James Knight of Sanford, Johnnie Lee Grubbs of Sycruse, N.Y., and Clevester and Ray Grubbs, both of Sanford; and sisters, Linda L. Chavennae and Amie Hill, both of Sanford.

SAULS SR.
John Laurens Sauls, Sr., 89, of Sanford, passed away January 11, 2010 in Altamonte Springs.
He was born December 28, 1920 in Fort Motte, S.C. to Lucius Paul Sauls and Elizabeth Glover Beckwith Sauls. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later worked in the insurance business for many years. He was an ordained southern Baptist minister and served on the Florida Chaplain service at the Seminole County Jail. He had a heart for foreign missions, and was partially responsible for moving the New Tribes Mission to Sanford.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Clara Haskins Sauls of Sanford; son, John Laurens Sauls, Jr. of Sanford; granddaughters, Haley Sauls of Sanford and Berit Sauls Van Neste of Thonatossassa; grandson, Erik Laurens Sauls of California; and two great-granddaughters.
