Beulah Bandy, 87, of Sanford, died May 8, 2008, in Altamonte Springs.
She was born July 28, 1920, in Floyd County, Ky., and was a member of Protestant church.
She is survived by her children, Jummy Hunt of Eustis, Fla.; Joyce Prutt of Largo, Fla.; Janice Fields of Phoenix, Az.; Annis Ringold of Sanford; Roger Hunt of Sanford; Helen Belitz of Olive Branch, Miss.; and Bobby Hunt of Wabash, Ind.; and 21 grandchildren and several great and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on May 12 at 11 a.m. at Oaklawn Chapel of Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Homes. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Park Cemetery.

JAMES RONALD DYCUS
James Ronald Dycus, 76, of Sanford, died May 5, 2008.
He was born June 17, 1931, in Winter Haven, Fla., to Wilma and Hoyt Dycus. He was a graduate of the University of Florida in 1954 and also served in the army. He lived most of his life in Sanford as a partner of Greene, Dycus & Co., P.A. He was involved with the community as a member of the Rotary Club, the Sanford Chamber of Commercer (where he served as the director) and the Elks Club.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lois; sons, Jim (Juanita) Dycus and Tim (Bridget) Dycus; grandchildren, Megan, Jeff, Chrysta, Quinn and Wlaker; brother, Richard (Lavelle); nephew, Richard (Vandana); niece, Susan (Zack); and grandnephew, Mackinnon.
A memorial gathering will be held on May 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Oaklawn Chapel of Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, BA 22312.

ODESSA VIRGINIA FREEMAN
Odessa Virginia Freeman, 85, of Sanford, died May 6 at her home.
She was born in Columbus, Ga., and was a member of Historic All Souls Catholic Church. She was a homemaker.
Freeman is survived by her children, Mangerm Pitts and Wylena Alexander, both of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Denise M. Williams and Simone Freeman, both of Sanford and Donna Dixon of Shorthill, N.J.; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held May 10 at 2 p.m. at All Souls Catholic Church with burial following at All Souls Catholic Cemetery.

CYNTHIA IRENE GAILEY
Cynthia Irene Gailey, 81, of Sanford, died May 6, 2008, in Atlanta, Ga.
She was born July 24, 1926, to the late Judge L. Perkins and Bera Lee Knight. She worked for Southern Bell Telephone company for over 36 years and was also a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Sanford.
She is survived by her husband, William “Syd” Gailey, the former fire chief of Sanford; son, William Gailey (Vernice) of Lake Spivey, Ga.; brothers, William Hartzog of Clermont and Marvin Hartzog of Winter Garden; two grandchildren, Will (Amy) and Rich (Rhonda); and five great-grandchildren, Parker, Rylee, Grace, Madison and Lauren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on May 10 at the Church of God of Prophecy in Sanford. There will be a reception following from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brisson Funeral Home in Sanford with burial at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be made at www.brissonfh.com.

CHARLES LOUIS HERRON
Charles Louis Herron, 77, died on May 3, 2008 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville.
Herron attended Asbury College and graduated from Stetson University in 1953 and the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 1956. He was ordained an elder in the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church and served congregations around the state in Mims, Orlando, Homestead, the Citra circuit, Woodstock Park and Riverside Park in Jacksonville. He retired in 1997.
Herron worked in many ways for the disadvantaged through the Council of Churches of North Carolina Migrant Ministry, the Concentrated Employment Program in Charlotte and with Planned Parenthood in Charlotte, Atlanta and Jacksonville. He also spent time and worked with Carlyle Marney at the Interpreter’s House in Lake Junaluska, N.C.
He was predeceased by his sons Andy, Wesley and his parents Ruth and Ray Herron. He is survived by Jo, his wife of 57 years; son, Michael of Misenheimer, N.C.; daughter, Lynne of Jacksonville; daughter Brenda of Stuttgart, Germany; sister, Judy Avera of Fruitland Park; and an Aunt, Marj Morgenstern of Sanford and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service was scheduled at Riverside Park United Methodist Church, 819 Park St. in Jacksonville May 10 at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that charitable donations made in Chuck’s memory be given to Riverside Park United Methodist Church (Missions or Music Dept.) and the Baptist Health Foundation Employee Care Fund, 841 Prudential Dr. Suite No. 1300, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
HAZEL JOHNSON
Hazel Johnson, 68, of Winter Park, died May 2, 2008.
She was born Feb. 14, 1940, in Sanford. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Johnson and Dewey Johnson; daughter, Jennifer Washington; brother, Walter James Johnson; sister, Emma Thompson; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held May 10 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Homes Oaklawn Chapel.

LUCILLE MAGDALENE KESLING
Lucille Magdalene Kesling, 90, of Oakland, Md., died May 2, 2008, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland.
She was born Aug, 7, 1917, in Ohio, and was the daughter of the late Lucille (Metzger) Day. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Hayes Kesling, and her son, William Kesling.
She was an apartment manager in Sanford and a member of the Catholic church.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Stanton (Dallas) of Lakeland; her niece, who she raised, Sandi Smith (Larry) of Oakland; sisters, Virginia, Elsie and Eleanor; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two great-nephews, Michael, Shawn and Tommy; great-niece-in-law, Carrie; and nine great-great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the residence of Sandi and Larry Smith of May 10 at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Elkins, W.V.

Joseph Powell, 46, of Sanford, died May 2, 2008, at Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs.
He was born in Daytona Beach and worked as a driver.
