Nellie Elizabeth Williams Coleman joined her husband Curtis Boyd Coleman in their heavenly home July 7, 2012. Boyd died June 20th.

They were married 72 years. Nellie was born in Pelham, Ga. on April 25, 1911 to Alfred Spence Williams and Bessie Lee Adams. Nellie celebrated her 101st birthday in April. Her family moved to Sanford around 1920. She attended and graduated from Florida State in Tallahassee when it was still an all women's college. Nellie taught Latin, speech, and drama in the Seminole County schools for 32 years until her retirement in 1972. She taught more than one generation in some families. As a retired teacher she was very active in Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of the Sanford Woman's Club for many years. After her retirement she opened "Gifts by Nan" a popular gift shop in Sanford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, DorieSue, Mary Alice, Sally Kate, brothers Spence and Gilbert. Her sister-in-law Jewel Williams, many nieces and nephews, family members: Annette Jones Cowan, Cherly Willink, Joyce Welling and their families survive her. Nellie and Boyd were members of the First United Methodist Church of Sanford for over 74 years.

A celebration of life for Nellie will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Sanford, 419 Park Ave., on Thursday, July 12. Viewing and visitation will be at 10:30 until 11 a.m. The service will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Archie Buie, officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Florida Methodist Children's Home in Enterprise, or Vitas Hopsice Care, 2201 Lucien Way, Suite 100, Maitland, Fl., 32751.
