He was born in Greenlyville, S.C. and worked as a custodian at Greenwood Lakes Middle School. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #382 Son of David and the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church. He also served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel June of Sanford; daughter, Mattie Grayson of Sanford; sisters, Eunice Wilds, Mattie McKenzie and Suzanna Eudell, all of Sanford; brothers, Ned (Carrie) June of Sanford, Henry (Vera) June of Deltona, Elijah (Edna) June of DeLand; step-sons, Charles (Sherita) Steele of Deltona, Ernest (Claire) Steele of Detroit, Reginald Steele of Sanford, and Maurice Police of South Bay; and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wilson-Eichelberger Mortuary in Sanford. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at New Life Word Center with the Rev. Dr. Ronald W. Merthie, Pastor, officiating and the Rev. Raymond Brinson delivering the eulogy.
