Robbery with a firearm

A 48-year-old Sanford man was charged with armed robbery early Tuesday after an employee of Kangaroo Express, 609 W. Airport Blvd., reported that a man wearing a bandana escaped with the contents of the cash register. A witness said the man was seen riding a bicycle toward the Country Lake apartment complex, and police found the suspect hiding a short while later in the 2700 block of Ridgewood Avenue. Officers recovered a pellet gun and bandana. Julio Cesar Fassamelle of Exeter Court was charged with robbery with a firearm and committing a felony while wearing a mask.

Aggravated assault

A 31-year-old Sanford man was arrested Sunday after a group of friends at a house on the 600 block of East 8th Street said a man kicked in the front door, threatened them with a handgun, and then left. Charlie W. Pendleton of Cypress Avenue was charged with aggravated assault, burglary and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Burglary

A 54-year-old homeless Sanford man was charged with burglary at Edward Higgins Terrace after he told police “I never broke into the house…The only thing that entered that house was my arms,” according to the arrest report. Police said they responded to a report of a burglary in progress after two security guards said they saw someone remove a cable box from a residence. Joe H. Mobley was charged with burglary and possession of drug equipment.

Theft of firearm

A loaded handgun was stolen sometime over the weekend from an apartment in the 3300 block of South Sanford Avenue. The owner said the .25-caliber Titan was valued at $125.

Shooting

A bullet grazed a man in the back Sunday while he was sitting with others in front of a house in the 1100 block of Orange Avenue, a police report said. A witness said the gunman walking by the house was wearing a full-faced black mask. After the shooting, the man took off running, the witness said.
