Cinemaniacs! It’s that time again: Cinema in the Park is Friday at 8:30 p.m. at Park on Park. This month’s movie is The Goonies, about a group of seven young friends from a small northwest town who find themselves on a thrilling underground adventure filled with humor and heart-pounding peril as they seek the secrets behind the treasure of the notorious pirate, One-Eyed Willie. The PG movie stars Sean Astin, Josh Brolin and Corey Feldman.

• Framing 508 Gallery invites everyon to The Sanford Chess Group meetup every Monday evening from 6 - 8:30 p.m. All levels and ages are welcome and there are free lessons for beginners. Workout out your brain playing chess and make new friends in a creative public space. The art gallery of Framing 508 Gallery is at 508 S. Sanford Ave. between 5th and 6th streets. Coffee, light refreshments and free lessons for beginners are all included for a nominal $5. Please RSVP for the tables and sets needed. • The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens offers ZOOventure classes targeted to homeschool students. Registration begins Aug. 17. The students will be inspired and challenged as they experience living classrooms for these interactive programs. A complete list of 2010-2011 classes will be available online beginning Aug. 17.
