Police arrested a 19-year-old Sanford man Saturday after they said he drove past a home in the 2500 block of Georgia Avenue and shot a bullet into the house.
Police said they responded to the address after two people standing outside said a gray 4-door vehicle rolled slowly past, with the driver brandishing a gun.
Witnesses said the driver attempted to shoot once, but the gun malfunctioned. The driver then cleared the gun, and shot a bullet through the home.
Victims said they only knew the man as “Corin” and identified a police suspect in a lineup.
Corinthian Freeney of Drew Avenue was charged with attempted homicide, firing a weapon into a dwelling and discharging a firearm from a vehicle. He was taken to the county jail.
Firearm possession
Police arrested a 39-year-old Sanford man after they said he brandished a gun outside of his apartment on Chase Avenue.
Officers said they received a call in reference to a reckless driver who was brandishing the gun and appeared to only have one arm. Upon arrival, police identified the man and found a gun in the waistband of his shorts. Several neighbors confirmed to police that the man was waving the gun while in the neighborhood.
Francisco Santiago of Chase Avenue was charged with possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon. He was taken to the county jail.
Drug trafficking
Police arrested a 29-year-old Sanford man early Saturday after they said he was too intoxicated to realize he was trying to enter the wrong house.
Police said a woman on the 1600 block of 3rd Street called police to report a man trying to enter to her home.
When police arrived, they said they found a man staggering around the yard. When police asked him where he was, he responded, “Yeah, I’m at my house on Rosalia and I can’t get in,” according to the arrest report. Police said a search of the man turned up Xanax and oxycodone.
Curtis Ray Burns of Rosalia Drive was charged with disorderly intoxication, trafficking an opium derivative, and possession of an opium derivative. He was taken to the county jail.
Prostitution
A 49-year-old Orange City man and a 28-year-old Sanford woman were arrested Friday on prostitution charges.
Police said they observed the man pull over to speak to the woman, pick her up and drive to a cemetery on 25th Street and Hardy Avenue.
When police caught the two, the man admitted he paid her for a sexual act.
When police interviewed the woman, she said she had injected oxycodone about four hours earlier.
A search of the woman revealed burnt spoons and syringes.
Charles Wayne Garrett of French Avenue was charged with purchase of prostitution. Crystal Renee Taylor of Memory Lane was charged with procurement of prostitution, and possession of marijuana, opium and drug equipment.
