Cocaine possession

A 32-year-old Sanford motorist who hit a light pole after he swerved to avoid a board in the road, was later charged with cocaine possession after police said they found some drugs in a nearby trashcan.

A witness said she saw the motorist go into a business after the accident and place something in the trashcan, which police later determined to be cocaine.

Anthony Leonard Dyles of Pecan Avenue was charged with cocaine possession with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a worship center, and driving while license suspended.

Battery

A 24-year-old Sanford man was charged Saturday with battery after a woman said she was repeatedly struck and choked. She was able to get away and call police. Robert L. Anderson was taken to the county jail.

Resisting officer

A 42-year-old Lake Mary woman who was causing a disturbance and initially refused to give police her name, was arrested Sunday. Police responded to a motel in the 3200 block of South Orlando Drive to investigate the disturbance.

As an officer approached the woman, according to the police report, she sat down and said: “I’m not going to give you my name and I want my lawyer, so I guess you can take me to jail.” Stephanie Rhodes Sammons of Vista Verdi Circle was taken to the county jail.
