Dennis Dingle, age 67, a resident of Gainesville and New Smyrna Beach passed away Sunday August 25, 2013 at his beach home.

He was born February 22, 1946 in Utica, N.Y. and moved to St. Petersburg, Florida at the age of 10. He attended Disston Junior High School, Boca Ciega High School, and graduated from the University of South Florida in 1969. He began working for Florida Power while he was in college as a co-op student. As a mechanical engineer, he was instrumental in building power plants throughout Florida. After 35 years of service, he retired from Florida Power in 2001 to relax on the beach, travel the country in his RV, and spend time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed visiting family and the many friends he made through his education and career. He enjoyed the outdoors as an avid skier, hiker, and cyclist. When home in Gainesville, he was an active member of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church community. Many will remember him as a man who was extremely content to be working on a project, planning a trip, sitting on the beach reading a book, or cheering on the Gators in all sports. Go Gators!

He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Bertha Dingle and brother Francis Dingle. Survivors include his wife of 43 years Kathy Dingle; brother Doug Dingle; daughter Lee Dotson and son-in-law Tim of Orlando, FL; son Jamie Dingle and daughter-in-law Amie of Gainesville, FL; grandchildren Kory and Shelby Dotson and Jennie and James Dingle. Dearly beloved by his mother-in-law, Luticia Lee and also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and extended family in Sweden.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 10900 SW 24th Avenue, Gainesville, FL with Father Kazimierz Ligeza as Celebrant. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the Funeral Mass.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Queen of Peace Academy Tuition Assistance Fund, c/o Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
