My wife and I would like to thank the Sanford Police Department, Sanford Fire Department, the City of Sanford and the local community for their support after an attempted burglary at our home on Feb. 18.
Special thanks to the following people:
• Chief Tooley: For his quick arrival to the scene, and assessment of the situation. He was able to quickly articulate to me and my wife that all efforts were being taken to process the scene, and to track down the criminals involved in the incident.
• Investigator Ricardo Ayala and Sgt. Smith: For their continued support throughout the investigation, the updates and answers to all of our questions.
• Mayor Linda Kuhn: For the personal phone call to my wife and offering reassurance. This simple act reminded us why we chose to make Sanford our home after 24 years of U.S. Marine Corps service and multiple duty stations.
Many have asked us if we planned to move after the incident. Our answer is, NO! We truly enjoy the aesthetic beauty of Sanford, the diversity of the community/city and the “small town” feeling Sanford portrays.
We are excited about the progress Sanford has made around the riverfront area, and the continued progress towards making this community a better place to live.
Undoubtedly this will help to bring in more residents, visitors and hopefully business to the city.
We are also excited about the Sanford police department’s creative approach to crime reduction, and the renewed emphasis, from the police department and local residents, in the neighborhood watch program. In conclusion, a big “Thanks!” to all.
Geoff and Phyllis Field,
Sanford
(After two burglars broke into the Field’s house, Phyllis Field shot one suspect in the face. Both burglars were later captured and arrested by Sanford Police.)
