Just this past week, Allegiant Air, LLC and Orlando Sanford International Airport announced that Allegiant has selected Sanford as its base of operations for the next 10 years. In making the announcement, it was reported that the first in a planned series of flights to and from Sanford will be to Madison, Wisconsin. Those flights are scheduled to begin May 26 and will operate four times a week.

Since that time, Allegiant has announced additional flights to and from Sanford.

On March 29, Allegiant Air announced scheduled nonstop low-fair service will also go to Lansing, Michigan. Those flights will also begin on may 26th and will operate four times per week.

On March 31, Allegiant made another announcement that it will begin flights to and from De Moines, Iowa as of May 26th. Again service will be four times per week, on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The fourth in the series of flights will go to and from Peoria, Illinois.

Gregory A. Dull, TBI Airport Management, stressed that these are direct flights and not those which go to several of these cities before returning.

Allegiant will be using 130-seat MD-87 jet aircraft for all of the flights.

While the fares for these flights are considered low-cost, special introductory fares will be available during early to mid April at an even greater saving.

The airlines reservation center may be called at 1-800-432-3810.
