Allegiant starts Knoxville route

SANFORD — Orlando Sanford International Airport and Allegiant Air announced on Friday the start of nonstop service between Sanford and McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville, Tenn.

Situated near the crossroads of three major interstates (I-75, I-40 and I-81) the airport is located to serve Eastern Tennessee and Western North Carolina.

Service will operate four times weekly on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Flights will depart Knoxville at 7:45 a.m. and arrive at Orlando Sanford at 9:25 a.m. Flights will depart Orlando Sanford at 5:30 p.m. and arrive in Knoxville at 7:10 p.m. (all flight times are local).

Allegiant will use 150-seat, MD-80 series jet aircraft on the route.

Knoxville is one of 22 nonstop destinations for Allegiant from Sanford.
