Summer is fast approaching and The Woman’s Club of Sanford had its last meeting until they resume again in September. This meeting was of special importance because of the awarding of scholarships. This year the scholarship recipients were Debra A. Deaton, Alisha N. Simpson and Lily Towne. The scholarships were awarded by the Education Chairman, Dr. Shirley Tyson. The scholarship recipients are not only outstanding students, but they also juggle work, children and home to pursue their academic career.

The meeting also included the charitable gifts that the Woman’s Club of Sanford donates each year. Several of the recipients this year were the Sanford Christian Sharing Center, Seminole County Health Department, Multiple Sclerosis, Mid-Florida Chapter, and the Seminole High School Health Academy. The Woman’s Club is proud to sponsor these worthwhile local charities.

The new year will welcome in the new board members: Second Vice President Betty Jack; Third Vice President Judy Wilhelm; Treasurer Pat Bowen; Corresponding Secretary De Forbes. Committee chairman for the upcoming term will be Chairman of Arts Carol Kirchhoff; Chairman Home LIfe Patty Mahany; Chairman Education Shirley Tyson; Chairman Public Affairs Liz Darwick.
