A hearing has been set in the case against George Zimmerman to determine whether Zimmerman’s attorneys will have access to records of Trayvon Martin.

In a motion filed Friday Zimmerman’s attorney Mark O’Mara is requesting school records of the 17-year-old, as well as records from Martin’s Facebook, Twitter and T-Mobile account.

Zimmerman is charged with the second-murder of Martin after he shot and killed the teenager Feb. 26 at The Retreat at Twin Lakes neighborhood. Zimmerman has maintained that the shooting occurred in self-defense.

The State Attorney’s Office argued in a separate motion filed Friday that Zimmerman’s defense team was going on a “fishing expedition” related to Martin’s background. The motion said, “As it relates to subpoenas such as those already publicized, the State would argue that Defendant now cannot claim that because this case is “a high profile” case the Court should disregard the law.”

Assistant State Attorney Bernie de le Rionda has requested in the motion that Martin’s records be reviewed in camera by the judge to find if any potential evidence is relevant to the case.

The hearing will be in front of Judge Debra Nelson on Oct. 19 at 1:30 p.m. Nelson was put on the case after Judge Kenneth Lester was removed following a request by Zimmerman’s defense team.
