This weekend, Seminole County residents will once again have the opportunity to safely dispose of old, expired or unwanted prescription medications.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) is teaming up with the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Seminole Prevention Coalition and area law enforcement to recognize National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. prescription drugs may be turned in at the following 11 locations:

• Altamonte Springs Police Department- ASPD Mall COPS Center, lower level between JC Penney and Macy’s, 451 E. Altamonte Dr., Altamonte Springs

• Casselberry Police Department – 4195 S. U.S. Highway 17-92, Casselberry

• Lake Mary Police Department – 165 E. Crystal Lake Ave., Lake Mary

• Longwood Police Department – 235 W. Church Ave., Longwood

This is the second national prescription drug disposal event held this year. At the April event, SCSO collected 168 pounds of prescription drugs from the community, and across the country, citizens turned in more than 552,161 pounds (276 tons) of unwanted or expired medications at more than 5,600 take-back sites in all 50 states and U.S. territories.
