The release is expected to come Wednesday morning.
Zimmerman is currently charged with second-degree murder after shooting and killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in February. Zimmerman has maintained he shot Martin in self-defense.
Currently Zimmerman is out of jail on a $1 million bond. Per the terms of his release, he must remain in Seminole County and can only leave to make pre-approved visits to his attorney’s office in Orlando.
Attorney Mark O’Mara said Zimmerman’s defense team is now preparing for a self-defense hearing, which could be months away.
Unlike a trial, the burden would be on the defense during the hearing to prove Zimmerman shot Martin in self-defense. Also, the decision to dismiss Zimmerman’s charges would lie in the hands of the judge, rather than a jury.
Seminole County Judge Debra Nelson is presiding over the case.
