Seminole County Judge Kenneth Lester announced today he will not step-down from the George Zimmerman case saying the motion that asked him to be disqualified was legally insufficient.

Zimmerman’s attorney Mark O’Mara filed the motion to have Lester disqualified in mid-July which stated Zimmerman believed he would not receive a fair trial if Lester was kept on.

Additionally, O’Mara’s motion stated the judge made “gratuitous, disparaging remarks” about Zimmerman’s character and advocated for Zimmerman to prosecuted for additional crimes. O’Mara wrote Lester offered a personal opinion about the evidence for the prosecution and continues to hold the threat of future contempt proceedings over Zimmerman’s head.

In the judge's order Wednesday stating he would remain on the case, Lester did not address any of those allegations and instead only said the the court found the motion to be legally insufficient.
