Police announced today the Sunday shooting in Goldsboro that left one woman dead and two others injured was motivated by friction between violent rival street gangs in Sanford.

Pernecia KeAmber Jones, 18, of Sanford, died at the Central Florida Regional Hospital after the drive-by shooting at 14th Street and Oleander Avenue around 11:45 p.m.

Officials said, “Investigation indidcates that as a result of this gang activity, Ms. Jones was the unfortunate victim of unnecessary gang-related violence.”

City officials said Marvin Joe, 29, of Sanford, is currently being treated at the Orlando Regional Medical Center for gunshot wounds and Javon Roberts, 19, of Sanford, was treated and released from the Central Florida Regional Hospital.

Police said the shooters were driving a white sedan and shot into another car during the incident. They are asking that anyone with information about the shooting call the Sanford Police Department at 407-688-5070 or CrimeLine at 1-800-423-TIPS.
