Robbery

• Police arrested a 23-year-old man Tuesday after they said he broke into a woman’s home on Hartwell Avenue, stole her keys, then attempted to get back inside the home while her and a friend were inside.

Police said they caught the man on the back porch trying to gain entry into the house. The woman inside the home told police the man pushed through the front door when they arrived home, held down one of the woman and tried to take her car keys, but got the wrong keys. When the man realized this, they said, he returned to the home, kicked in the front door and attempted to regain entry into the home.

Dontavius Levertt Jackson was charged with robbery/ residential home invasion, burglary with assault, burglary of coneyance, resisting an officer without violence and property damage. He was taken to the Seminole County jail.

Grand theft

• Police arrested a 59-year-old Deltona man Tuesday after they said he was driving and crashed a stolen van from Volusia County.

Police said the man backed into a vehicle on 1st Street and then hit a curb. A city employee reported the incident and police were able to catch the man. The man told police, “I know. I stole it this morning from my neighbor.”

Edward Steven Hilsenbeck, of Joel Court, was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle and taken to the Seminole County jail.

Child neglect

• Police arrested two 23-year-old women Thursday after they said the two left a 6-year-old, 3-year-old and 10-month-old alone in a home for almost an hour.

Whitney Erica Brown and Geneva Juanita Heard were both charged with child neglect without great harm and taken to the Seminole County jail.

Burglary

• Police arrested a 70-year-old Sanford man Thursday after they said he stole a television from his neighbor on Lindsey Way.

Police said they found out the man had stolen the television because he pawned the item.

Charles X Dydo, of Lindsey Way, was charged with burglary and dealing in stolen property. He was taken to the Seminole County jail.

Battery

• Police arrested a 25-year-old DeLand woman Friday after they said she hit a man while trying to enter his home.

Lashonta Denise Knight, of Laurel Villas Circle, was charged with domestic violence battery and taken to the Seminole County jail.

Drug possession

• Police arrested a 30-year-old Sanford woman Tuesday after they said she was in possession of drug equipment.

Police said employees of the Taco Bell on S. Orlando Drive complained the woman had been using drugs in the bathroom and when police arrived the woman allowed them to look through her purse. Police found several needles and a glass pipe.

Crystal Renee Taylor, of S. Orlando Drive, was charged with possession of drug equipment and taken to the Seminole County jail.

• Police arrested an 18-year-old Maitland man July 7 after they said he was in possession of marijuana and drug equipment.

Police said they responded to Paloma Avenue in reference to a suspicious vehicle and could smell marijuana coming from the man’s car. The man admitted to having a bag of marijuana in the middle console.

Cory Jay CJ Johnson, of Geronimo Trail, was charged with possession of marijuana under 20 grams and possession of drug equipment. He was taken to the Seminole County jail.

• Police arrested a 43-year-old Sanford man Thursday after they said he was in possession of drug equipment.

Police said they observed the man in front of the Slumberland Motel and saw him place something into his pocket. The man admitted to police it was a marijuana pipe.

William Adcox, of S. Orlando Drive, was charged with possession of drug equipment and taken to the Seminole County jail.

Suspended license

• Police arrested a 18-year-old Sanford man Tuesday after they said he was driving with a suspended license.

Police said the man was involved in a traffic crash at Lake Mary Boulevard and Mellonville Avenue and admitted he did not have a valid license.

Jarayvion Deontre Olajuwo Dixon, of Avocado Avenue, was charged with driving with a suspended license and taken to the Seminole County jail.

Larceny

• Police arrested a 20-year-old Sanford man Tuesday after they said he attempted to steal a bike tire tube and a wrench from Walmart on S. Orlando Drive.

John Lee Deranleau, homeless, was charged with larceny and taken to the Seminole County jail.

• Police arrested an 18-year-old Sanford man Wednesday after they said he attempted to steal a lemonade and a bag of chips from 7-Eleven on S. Orlando Drive.

Police said when an employee of the store stopped the man, he went back inside and paid for the items. The man told police, “I did not know I could go to jail over $2.”

• Police arrested a 56-year-old Sanford man and a 48-year-old Sanford man Thursday after they said the two attempted to steal a KitchenAid mixer from Walmart on S. Orlando Drive.

Rodney Lanford and John Michael Tagliaferro, both of S. Marshall Avenue, were charged with larceny and taken to the Seminole County jail.

Property damage

• Police arrested a 37-year-old man July 8 after they said he kicked a woman’s headlight in front of a store on S. Orlando Drive.

The woman said she did not know the man or why he kicked her car.

Avila Carlos Hernandex, homeless, was charged with property damage and taken to the Seminole County jail.
