Greetings were extended by Dr. Geraldine D. Wright. Meditation was given by Carolyn Coleman. Musical rendition to the beautiful selection of “Sweet, Sweet Spirit.”
Sandra Petty presented the presenters Paisha Baker, CEO of her company and Stephanie Wright, Counselor, Both gave words of encouragement to the graduates. Their experience in the world can be an inspiration to the students who are stepping out in the college and career world.
The 2012 Scholarship recipients are: Nakeisha C. Lyons, a graduate of Seminole High who will matriculate at Florida State University and major in Biology. Lyons is the daughter of Merna and Nevil Denton.
Kenya S. Moore, a graduate of Crooms Academy of Information Technology will matriculate at Seminole State College and go on to the University of South Florida to major in Physical Therapy with a minor in Sports Medicine. Kenya is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Ken Moore.
These students were recognized with scholarships, gifts and certificates.
Graduating Alpha teens are: Kelilah Nickson, daughter of Mrs. & Mrs. Michael Nickson and the grand daughter of Bishop and Mrs. H. Ross. Kelilah is a graduate of Crooms Academy of Information Technology who will matriculate at Valencia Community College.
Bryne Jenkins, son of Cynthia Jenkins is a graduate of Lake Mary High School. Bryne will matriculate at Stetson University on a full scholarship.
Briyana Jenkins, daughter of Cynthia Jenkins, recently received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Florida State University. She will attend the University of South Florida on a graduate Assistanceship to work toward a Master’s Degree.
Words of appreciation were given by Dr. Anita Gail Choice. The Scholarship Committee members are: Betty Covington, Kathleen Gordon, Deloris Myles, Sandra Petty and Dr. Geraldine Wright, President.

• The Award Winning Summer Program will return to Sanford. Central Florida CDF Freedom School 8th year plans are for Children 6 to 17 to have 4 levels of classes. A $25 registration fee. Program is offered at no cost to families.
Program will run June 18 through July 27, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 4100 H.E. Thomas Parkway (25th Street). Freedom School offers an Award Winning Intergrated Reading Curriculum and opportunities for children to experience Visual and Performing Arts, field trips, conflict resolution and community service.
Reading scores for children who participated in the program last year showed an average 6 months gain in comprehension and vocabulary. Spaces are available on a first come first saved basis so, register quickly and reserve your child’s space.
