Local organizations give Thanksgiving meals to needy

Gaines–Morgan Amvets Post and Gaines-Morgan Amvents Auxiliary #17 served the citizens and homeless a pre-Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday. Over 150 people were served dinner at the West Sanford Boys and Girls Club along with carry-out dinners delivered to the veterans, sick and shut-in citizens. James Melton, Commander of Post 17 and Eartha Melton, President of the Auxiliary.

• Evergreen Temple #321 of IBPO Elks gave out four Thanksgiving baskets to four deserving families in the Sanford community. Shown getting ready to deliver the prepared Thanksgiving Baskets of Turkeys and all that goes with a good, delicious meal are: Daughter Adrian Washington, Daughter Ruler, Daughters Pattye Williams, Brenda Davis, Shirley Wynn and Eva Williams.

• New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 618 East 10th Street will have Thanksgiving Worship Service from 10 to 11 a.m.; Pastor, William Lewis. The community is invited.
