SOCCER, CHEERLEADING

In a time where families are pulled in a million different directions, the Gracepointe Church, 2581 S. Sanford Avenue, is bringing families and the community together.

Upward Sports, the world’s largest Christian sports league for children, provides and opportunity for the whole family to participate. Parents can volunteer as coaches, referees, team hosts, field management, concession help and much more.

Kids, ages 5 years through 6th grade, learn to play soccer and gain valuable lessons such as sportsmanship, persistence, teamwork, and character. Included in the registration each child will receive a two-ply reversible mesh jersey, a pair of soccer socks, a sports water bottle and an individual gift presented at the end of season Celebration Rally.

The league is also offering a Cheerleading Camp this fall for kids ages 4 through 6th grade. Camp Saturdays will correspond with the soccer schedule. Times will be determined by age and number of participants. Included in their registration are a set of pom-poms, t-shirt, sports water bottle and more.

To avoid player and parent burnout, Upward Sports Leagues limit the time commitment to one practice and one game per week. Upward Sports Leagues are 10-week programs that incorporate character-building principles into the sports experience.

This is the first year GracePointe Church has hosted an UPWARD Soccer League and Cheerleading camp. Plans are to offer flag football and cheerleading early spring next year.
