8-team intracounty battle set for Saturday at Seminole High

SANFORD — One of the top post-holiday events on the boys high school basketball schedule is coming to Sanford this Saturday when Seminole High School hosts the annual County Pride Shootout at Seminole’s new gymnasium.

Some of the most talented players and rising teams will take part in the event that features four teams from Orange County against three teams from Seminole County and one team from Volusia County.

Orange County will be led by a pair of top-flight programs in Timber Creek and Boone, while the Seminole Athletic Conference will be represented by three of its hottest teams, Lake Brantley, host Seminole and Lake Mary, while place first, second and fourth, respectively, in last week’s 13th annual Lake Mary Holiday Classic.

The day’s action begins at 2 p.m. with rising Volusia County power, Deltona Trinity Christian, taking on Boone.

The second game is considered by many to be the top matchup of the day when the Lake Brantley Patriots battle the Timber Creek Timberwolves at 3:30 p.m.

The Rams then take to the court against a talented University squad, which features a pair of NCAA Division I prospects, at 5 p.m.

And the day concludes with host Arrow Force XVII taking on Colonial at 6:30 p.m.

The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for students.
