The sweet sounds of community...
Bill Vogel, Seminole County s school superintendent, rings a handbell at the Student Museum in Sanford to gather visitors who came to hear the newly restored 107-year-old school bell in the museum s three-story bell tower. The museum s restoration committee named the bell the The Sanford Herald Restoration bell after the newspaper recently paid for repairs. School officials say they re not sure when the bell stopped being used regularly. Electricity was added to the building in 1916 and the opening for the bell rope into the principal s office was closed up years ago.
