Beloved son of the late John and Mattie Colman Waldo , he was born April 2, 1942 in Blackville, S.C., the fourth of nine children. He worked with his father as a seasonal contractor. He attended public schools of Cape Charles, Va. He moved from Blackville, S.C. and has lived in Central Florida for 56 years. He was Pentecostal and a member of From Behind the Walls Evangelistic Ministry Church under the Pastoral leadership of Pastor Dr. Cathy Ramassar. He loved his family wholeheartly and would help anyone in a time of need.
He is survived by his sons, Aparicio Smith of Massapequa, N.Y., Lawrence Ayers of Cape Charles, Va., Damon Ayers of Trenton, N.J., Alton Butts of Deltona, Alfred M. Perkins of Deltona, Travis Perkins of Okinawa, Japan, Arcotos A. Allen of Sanford, Kelvin Waldo of Mt. Dora, Corey Burton of Reidsville, N.C. and Jeffery Andre’ of DeLand; daughters, Teresa Butts of Orlando, Lushienda Butts of Deltona, Tashica Burton of Cape Charles, Va., Alexis Waldo of Sanford, Patricia Lashelle Waldo of Sanford, and Kimberly Lanett Waldo of Sanford; brothers, R.C. Waldo of Cape Charles, Va., Leroy Waldo of Virginia Beach, Va., Ardis Waldo of Sanford, and Ronnie (Flip) Conquest of Sanford; sisters, Sarah Waldo of Eatonville, Frances Williams of Sanford, Mattie Waldo of Sanford, Betty Faust of Columbus, S.C., Onita Waldo-Green of Orange City, and Selena Raines of Deltona; God-brother, Clondike Abbott of Sanford; 57 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 14 at 3 p.m. at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Sanford with Rev. William Lewis officiating and Rev. Leroy Waldo of Turning Point Church, Virginia Beach, Va., delivering the eulogy.
