EARL WALDO BROWN

Earl Waldo Brown, 94, passed away on June 13, 2009 at Florida Hospital Altamonte.

Mr. Brown was an Aircraft Technician for Pan Am. He was born in Eastpoint in 1915 to David and Marta Mae Brown.

Earl is survived by his beloved wife, Odeliah Brown, Altamonte Springs; 2 sons, Earl Richard (Kathleen) Brown, Altamonte Springs; David W. (Ann) Brown, Eastpoint, Fla.; daughter, Kathleen M. (John) Knoll, Crossville, Tenn. ; 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Gramkow Funeral Home on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. with a service to immediately follow at 3 p.m. with Burk Parsons officiating.

HAZEL MAEOLA GILLEY

Hazel Maeola Gilley, 83, of Sanford, passed away June 11, 2009 at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.

She was born October 6, 1925 in Hartwell, Ga. She was a member of Greater New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years serving on the Deaconess Board and the Usher Board. She was also a homemaker.

She is survived by her daughters, Carrie Montgomery, Devyonne Habeel, and Melissa Gilley; sons, Israel Gilley, Jr. and Lewis Gilley; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grands, and 10 great-great grands.

Homegoing Celebration will be held on Saturday at noon at Greater New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, in Sanford, Florida with Reverend LeRoy W. Lee, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Sanford.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Greater New Mt. Zion

Missionary Baptist Church.

LUDWIG W. GOERTZ

Ludwig W. Goertz, 72, of Lake Mary, died June 15, 2009 in Orlando.

He was born January 3, 1937 and worked as an automotive engineer.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Goertz of Lake Mary.

THOMAS LAWSON, SR.

Thomas Lawson, Sr., 80, of Sanford, died June 12, 2009.

He was born in Hawkinsville, Ga. and worked for Longwood Lincoln Mercury as a master mechanic. He was a member of The Singing Kings of Joy and Clearwater Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Lawson of Sanford; sons, Jesse, Reginald, and Minister Roy Lawson all of Sanford; daughters, Germaine Davis, Jacqueline Williams, Stephanie Jones and Sabrina Bodison, all of Sanford; sister, Rose Simpson of Waverly; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wilson-Eichelberger Mortuary in Sanford. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Life World Center Church with Dr. Ronald Merthie officiating.

JOSEPHINE KOGER HODGES LUKE

Josephine Koger Hodges Luke, 81, of Deltona, died June 12, 2009.

She was born September 2, 1927 in Bassett, Va. and moved to Central Florida in 1964. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her children, Joseph Lonnie (Laura) Hodges, Jr. of Conroe, Texas. Larry Wayne (Jackie) Hodges, Sr. of West Palm Beach, Judith Ann (Antonio) Hodges Ramos of Deltona, Katherine Dolly (Richard) Hodges Rumney of Mooresville, N.C., Peggy Ruth (Damon) Hodges Hawkins of Deltona and Susan Marie Hodges Luke of Deltona; and brother, Norman William Koger of Sanford.

Funeral services will be held today at 10 a.m. at Oaklawn Chapel in Sanford.

GRACE ELNORA PHILLIPS

Grace Elnora Phillips, 64, went home to be with her Lord on June 12, 2009 with her loving family at her side.

Grace, who was a Missionary, also started a women’s ministry at the First Baptist Church in Sanford. She enjoyed bicycling, fishing, hunting, traveling the world, cake decorating, crocheting, the beach and swimming.

Grace is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Wendell, Sanford; Sons, Dale (Carmen) Phillips, Budapest, Hungry; and Joel (Jody) Phillips, Virginia Beach, Va.; Brothers, Victor Arnett, CA; and Arthur Arnett, IO; and 6 grandchildren, Hannah and Joshua, of Va. and Justin, Gregory, Carina, and Rebecca Phillips of Hungry.

The family will receive friends at the Gramkow funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and a service celebrating Grace’s life will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Sanford. She will be laid to rest in DeLand following the church service.

ALBERTO VALENTIN

Alberto Valentin, 60, of Sanford, died June 11, 2009 in Orange City.

He was born February 24, 1949 in Puerto Rico and worked as a bus driver for Greyhound.

He is survived by his mother, Doris of N.Y.; wife, Yvonne of Sanford; sons, Gabriel (Gina) of New Smyrna, Alberto (Carla) of Salt Lake City, and Mark Anthony of Lake Butler; sisters, Christine Lynn of Sanford and Candy (Frank) Ambrisin of N.J.; brothers, George (Iris) of Middletown, N.Y., Billy (Mary) of Staten Island, N.Y. and Ariel (Jenny) of West Palm Beach.

Funeral services were held Monday at Oaklawn Chapel of Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home in Sanford.
