MARY BLANCHE

MITCHELL

Mary Blanche Mitchell, 92, of Sanford, passed away July 19, 2010 at her home.

She was born November 12, 1917 in Sanford. She was a member of Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church and a homemaker. She moved from Sanford to Los Angeles at an early age and moved back to Sanford in December 1995.

She is survived by her nieces, Sandra Mitchell Gaines of Orlando and Veronica Ready of Sanford; nephews, James R. Mitchell of Sanford, Stafford A. Mitchell of Deltona, Bernard Mitchell, Sr. of Sanford, Cleveland M. Mitchell of Sanford, Terry Mitchell and Filbert Mitchell, both of Newark, N.J.; 24 great-grandnieces and nephews; 31 great-great-grandnieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Sanford. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Sanford with Rev. Lowman Oliver, Pastor, officiating.

Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

JAMES F. POYNTER, JR.

James F. Poynter, Jr., 55, passed away July 18, 2010 at the Central Florida Regional Hospital.

James was born December 9, 1954 to James, Sr. and Helen Poynter in Lima, Ohio. He was a people person and a man of all trades. He enjoyed traveling, boating, computers and was passionate about music. He was a car enthusiast. James had volunteered with the Boggy Creek Gang in Eustis.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Lucie R. Bilodeau Poynter, Sanford; and his mother, Helen Poynter, Lima, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in James’ memory to a charity of your choosing.

WILLIE JAMES

PRESLEY, SR.

Willie James Presley, Sr., 75, of Sanford, passed away July 12, 2010 at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.

He was born in Pavo, Ga. and lived in the area for 46 years. He was a concrete finisher.

He is survived by his sons, Willie Presley, Jr., of Atlanta, Ga. and Anthony Freeman, Carl Presley and Demetrius Presley, all of Sanford; daughters, Amelia Walker of Deltona, Phyllis Freeman of Sanford and Marquetta Presley of Leesburg; sister, Margaret Turner of Pavo, Ga.; brother, Ishaih Presley of Pavo, Ga.; devoted friend, George Ann Eaddy of Sanford; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wilson-Eichelberger Mortuary in Sanford. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at New Life Work Center in Sanford with Dr. Ronald W. Merthie, pastor, officiating.

Wilson-Eichelberger Mortuary, Sanford, is in charge of all the arrangements.

INEZ SESSIONS

Inez Sessions, 88, of Ludowici, Ga., passed away July 11, 2010 in Savannah, Ga.

She was born November 29, 1921 in Tatum, S.C. and lived in Sanford from 1959 to 2000. She was also a homemaker and a member of the Central Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Luther Sessions; daughters, Linda (Thomas) Arnold of Orange Park, Phillis (Eddie) Ludwig of Sanford and Deborah Lee of Ludowici, Ga.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 17 at the Oaklawn Chapel of Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home in Sanford.

WILLIE “BUSTER”

STEPHENS

Deacon Willie “Buster” Stephens, 87, of Midway, passed away July 17, 2010 in Midway.

He was born in Bradenton and was a longtime resident of Sanford. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a dedicated Deacon at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Midway.

He is survived by his two sons, Willie (Tracye) Scott and Arnold Lee Henderson, both of Sanford; two daughters, Thelma S. (Julio) Rivas of Sanford, Madell H. (Roger) Breedlove of Rochester, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Lawrence Stephens of Morganville, N.J., Lonnie Rutley and Frank (Mary) Rogers, both of Chester, Pa., Joseph (Martha) Rutley of Citra, and Sam (Betsy J.) Rogers of Tinton Falls, N.J.; uncle, Charlie (Fannie) Gibbs of Durham, N.C.; and a loyal cousin, Sylvester “Speed O” Randall, Jr.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Midway. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Midway.

BLUFARD VARBLE

Blufard Varble, 90, of Lake Monroe, passed away July 15, 2010 in Orange City.

He was born January 24, 1920 in Daviess County, Ken. and worked as a steelworker. He also served in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Nola Varble of Sanford; sons, Larry Varble of Sanford and Marty (Allison) Varble of Apopka; three grandchildren, Renee, James and Holly Varble; and one great-grandchild, Kavan Springton.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Oaklawn Chapel of Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home in Sanford with Pastor Jack Cox officiating.
