Are you ready for some football?

Alive After 5 is with its newly themed Football Kick-Off street party this Thursday in downtown Sanford. Wear your favorite football team’s color to show your support.

This month’s festivities will feature the band Rock This Town and the main food sample will be barbecue sliders and chicken wings by Candlelight Catering.

In addition to the music on the main stage the Lochwood Bucket Brigade will provide entertainment by creating music with everyday objects like buckets, cans, brooms and flashlights. Other entertainment will include The Brite Star Twirlers, who just returned from the AAU Junior Olympics in Houston.

Attending for the first time will be the Florida State Seminole Club of Orlando, the Gator Club of Central Florida and the Seminole High Booster Club. Stumpy Harris, a retired Winter Park attorney and a Bull Gator (meaning he is one of the largest benefactors of UF alumni) is attending as a vendor and will bring his Gator Truck.

There will also be more than 55 vendors lining the streets of downtown Sanford giving out drink and food samples for guests.

Players from the Seminole High School football team will also host a Quarterback Challenge next to the Historic Sanford Welcome Center. To kick-off the festivities Barbi Bauman will sing the National Anthem.

As always, artists will also be along Palmetto Avenue to sell their handmade goods and art.

The fun begins Thursday at 5 p.m. and lasts until 8 p.m. Wristbands for the event are $7 per person.

Alive After 5 is put on the second Thursday of each month by the Historic Sanford Welcome Center.
