The principals Mark Russi, Betty Rodriques and Sam Davis along with selected students hosted citizens from the community who informed the students about what jobs they performed.
Dr. Bill Vogel, Superintendent of Seminole County Public Schools, shared his day with students of Sanford Middle. Businesses represented throughout the “teach-in” day were: Sanford Airport Authority, City of Sanford Maintenance, The Sanford Herald, Assistant Chief of Training Safety, SCES-Community Involvement, Sanford Police Department, Planning/Zoning City of Sanford, Progress Energy, Seminole West Sanford Boys & Girls Club, Seminole Dividend, Volunteers, U.S. Navy and NASA, Volunteer Engineer, Chiropracter, ESOL/Curriculum, Safe and Drug Free-Director, Information Service Webb/Art and an Author.

• The seniors of the Sanford community were treated to a pre-Thanksgiving dinner held at the West Sanford Community Center on Thursday. More than 100 seniors enjoyed the morning of games, fun and food. Britt Henderson of the West Sanford Community Center and Commissioner Velma Williams planned an enjoyable, fun filled day for the seniors. On display at the center were the quilts that had been made and other articles made during the senior time at the center. The group presented one of the hand-made quilts to the City of Sanford.
• On Sunday the Gaines and Morgan Amvet Post 17 and Auxilary fed the veterans, citizens and the sick. Shut-ins were carried their pre-Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner was held at the Westside Community Center where more than 200 diners were served. James Melton, Commander, Eartha Melton, Auxilary President.
• On Saturday ME Entertainment will present, “Soulful Saturday.” It will be clean-cut comedy, soulful music and a spoken word. The event will be held at Lyman High School auditorium, Longwood and hosted by Frank Burns, starting at 7 p.m. Advanced tickets are $10 or $15 at the door. For more information call 407-358-4075.
