Seminole County headed to the polls Tuesday to vote in the primary elections determining the final candidates for each party and in some cases the winners.

In the race for the Seminole County District 3 commission seat, former State Senator Lee Constantine took the majority of the Republican vote, beating out incumbent Dick Van Der Weide by more than 7 percent of the votes. Constantine will face write-in candidate Kevin Gross in the Nov. 6 general election.

The race for district seat 5 seat will also take place then with Republican County Commission Chairwoman Brenda Carey facing Democrat Gail Ellis.

On the school board, newcomer Amy Lockhart beat out incumbent Sylvia Pond with 66 percent of the votes. She will serve a four-year term in the position.

In the circuit court, Jim Earp took the majority of votes over challenger Matthew Aungs while the County Court Judge race will require a run-off election in November between Jeff Dowdy and Debra L. Krause because neither received more than 50 percent of the votes.

Those elected without opposition were County Commissioner Bob Dallari, School Board Member Dede Schaffner, Clerk of the Court MaryAnne Morse, Property Appraiser David Johnson, Sheriff Don Eslinger, Supervisor of Elections Mike Ertel, Tax Collector Ray Valdes, County Judge Group 3 Mark Herr, County Judge Group 4 James J.
