Early birds who like to make the most of their mornings can earn college credit and still be at work by 8 a.m. with classes at the Altamonte Springs Campus of Seminole State College of Florida.

With the start of fall classes on Aug. 22, four General Education courses will be offered at the Altamonte Springs Campus Mondays-Thursdays from 6:30-7:45 a.m. Surging enrollment at the campus prompted the pilot program, says Altamonte Springs Campus Provost Lynn Colon.

“We’re near capacity so we’re experimenting with ways to offer our students convenient access to the classes they need,” she said.

The early bird classes, which include speech, psychology and English, are likely to appeal to individuals who live or work near the Altamonte Springs Campus, particularly the Maitland Boulevard-Interstate 4 area.

“These are classes that apply toward most degrees at Seminole State College,” Colon says. “Students who don’t want to take time away from their families after work can still achieve their educational goals.”

Early morning classes also make it possible for any student to take a full load of classes and be done by 12:15.

“We have students who are early risers and would like to get a full load of classes in by noon and still have their afternoons and evenings free for work or study,” Colon says.

Located adjacent to the Maitland Boulevard/State Road 434 interchange, Seminole State College of Florida's Altamonte Springs Campus offers comprehensive curricula that include the courses students need to earn their two- or four-year degree.
