Aggravated battery

Two Sanford men were arrested Tuesday after police said they got into a physical altercation over a broken window.

Police said they were approached by a man with a baseball bat and a cut in the middle of his back, yelling, “He cut me.” After investigating, police said they learned the two men were in an altercation over a broken window. None of the wounds appeared to be in self-defense, police said.

Annibel Mercado, 45, and Eric Vazquez, 50, both of Park Avenue, were charged with aggravated assault and taken to Seminole County jail.

Possession

A 24 year-old Sanford man was arrested Tuesday after police said they found marijuana on him during a traffic stop.

Police said they observed the man drive through an intersection and violate another vehicle’s right-of-way.

After police caught the car, the driver exited the vehicle and refused to stop for police. Once police searched him, they found a baggie of marijuana in his pocket.

Michelob Maldonado, of Tinley Terrace, was charged with possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license.

Larceny

A homeless man and woman were arrested Tuesday after police said they tried to steal several items from Walmart on South Orlando Drive.

Police said a loss prevention officer stopped the couple after watching them conceal infant clothing, DVDs, and other items in the woman’s purse. When approached by a Walmart employee, police said the two became angry.

Scott Coppola, 25, and Kira Rivera, 24, were charged with larceny, petty theft and resisting recovery of property.
