David Coffin stands in front of his home on S. Park Avenue where he hung an Isaac sign for the storm that affected Seminole County on Monday.
Seminole County's Office of Emergency Management has been in constant communication with the National Hurricane Center and Weather Service Office in Melbourne, said Seminole County Emergency Manager Alan Harris.
Seminole County schools said late Sunday they will remain open, however afterschool activities and practices will be cancelled.
Superintendent Walt Griffin said, "We will continue to monitor the weather as the safety of our students and employees is our top priority. Please continue to follow the news in the event of an unexpected change in weather conditions."
Thus far, no delays at the Orlando Sanford International Airport have been reported.
At noon the Seminole County Office of Emergency Management released this statement:
"Seminole County continues to monitor the effects of Tropical Storm Isaac as it impacts the State of Florida. Weather conditions can change rapidly over the next 24-48 hours. Please remember to use caution when driving in wet weather and pay close attention to weather reports for up-to-date information. The Seminole County Office of Emergency Management has activated the Emergency Operations Center to a Level 2- partial activation. The activation will be used to train emergency personnel and exercise preparedness and response systems to prepare for future emergencies.
"All citizens should take hurricane preparedness seriously. Any preparations that citizens have taken will be beneficial for future events. The Atlantic Hurricane Season lasts until November 30th. History has shown that preparation before a storm will saves lives and property.
"Citizens should take the following precautions:
• Citizens should expect tropical storm force gusts over the next 24-48 hours. Anything not secured may become a deadly or damaging projectile.
• Please be aware of down power lines; keeping a safe distance and reporting them to 311
• With threat of mosquito borne illness, citizens should be cautious around standing water in flower pots, buckets, and barrels. Empty as necessary.
