Street closures

Crews will close W. 18th Street at the Central Florida Commuter Rail Corridor tracks beginning Monday, July 9 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., through Thursday, July 12, as crews continue work on the SunRail project.

Residents are being advised to use Southwest Road and Strickland Avenue as a detour around the work.

The work includes placing new track, replacing old asphalt, and building new sidewalks. Work is expected to last several days at each railroad crossing; however, it may take up to a week to complete the sidewalk work.

Crews will then move to Southwest Road to continue track and roadway work. Residents are advised to use 18th Street and Strickland Avenue as a detour around the work. Hours of operations will remain between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Credit workshop

The Recovery House of Central Florida will host a credit repair workshop program Monday, July 9 at 6 p.m. at the Sanford Boys & Girls Club.

The program will teach participants to pull their own credit report, identify different accounts, and how to build credit while repairing credit. There will also be guest speakers from various local banks and realtors.

The Boys & Girls Club is located at 919 S. Persimmon Ave.

Sweetwater Oaks

Sweetwater Oaks Garden Club will have an outing at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens on July 12, at 10 a.m.

Join the club and start new friendships with local women who enjoy horticulture, conservation and environmental needs as well as the art of floral design.

Sanford Seminole Art

The Sanford Seminole Art Association will hold its “Bright Reflections” art show reception July 13 from 6 to 9 p.m.

The show will run through July 27 at the Casselberry Art House, 127 Quail Pond Cir., Casselberry. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Vacation Bible School

The First Baptist Church Markham Woods will hold Vacation Bible School

July 16 to 20 from 6:30 to 8:55 p.m. with a drama/musical on Sunday, July 22 at 7 ap.m.

The First Baptist Church Markham Woods is located at 5400 Markham Woods Road, Lake Mary.

Students will race around the world and visit some of its greatest natural wonders. Along the way, they will encounter an awesome God and His amazing power.
