Arts Alive: Food trucks return to Sanford

This Saturday, July 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. the Food Truck Bazaar will be visiting Sanford. Head down to the marina at the corners of Seminole Blvd and Palmetto Ave where the food trucks will convene with an array of tasty delights.

Curator, Mark Baratelli works hard to see that there is something for everyone. This month may bring up to sixteen trucks with names like: “GastroTruck,” “Saigon Sizzle” “Cafe Rouge Express,” “Melissa's Chicken and Waffles,” “DemBom,” “The Flattery,” or “Swede Dish;” and don't forget about the dessert trucks like “The Batter Bowl,” “Yum Yum,” and “Pop Craft.”

You never know what you will find, but rest assured that it will be unique, fun and fresh. Prices average from $6 to $10 per plate and there is no cost for admission. Bring a picnic blanket, lawn chairs, and the whole family.

The American Harp Society



Saint Luke's Lutheran Church in Oviedo, in conjunction with The American Harp Society will present two harp concerts this week as part of their continuing mission to enrich the community.

On Friday, July 6 at 7 p.m. Christian performer Frank Voltz will play the piano, organ and harp in a truly unique and inspired program titled: “Jazzy Harp Weekend.” Volt is known for masterfully crafting a family-friendly show that is sure to entertain. He is has been touring throughout the spring and has a booked docket until the end of July. This is sure to be a memorable event.

Then, on Sunday July 8 at 3 p.m. St. Luke's will host a harp recital with over 20 harps and harpists on stage performing in concert. This recital will feature harp teacher, Jan Jennings and her most accomplished students.

As always, St. Luke's Concert Series is free and open to the public as their generous gift to the community.

Call to Actors



The Gateway Center for the Arts in Debary will produce a performance of the ever-popular musical, The Music Man. They have sent out a casting call to all interested parties and will be auditioning all parts including sweet Adelines, quartets and barbershop singers who are directed to call Mary Waldorff at 386-668-5553.

Auditions for adult performers are to be held on Saturday, July 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and auditions for children between 6 and 17 years of age will be held on Sunday, July 8 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Save the Date



The Art Affair Gallery will hold a fundraiser on the evening of July 14 to benefit Lighthouse for the Blind, a charity organization whose goal is to prevent blindness. This event will feature activities such as body painting and art opening. More information to follow.
